Betamaxnomates, silly. Say it a few times - let it wrap itself around your tongue in all it's polysyllabic, potentially copyright-infringing glory. Tell me more, you crow. What is this thing? And how can I send him some of my hard-earned money? Simply put, Betamaxnomates makes music. Sort of. As a producer, remixer, and DJ, this studio hermit, hunched over his laptop like some kind of monstrous gargoyle - more beast than human - toils endlessly to frankenstein strands of electro, chart pop, hip hop and dubstep into his own wonky brand of mutant pop. His DJ sets tap a similar vein - diverse, different, but always danceable - and certain to appeal to chin-strokers and ravers alike. Collaborations with Canadian glitch-hop legend ill.Gates as well as a series of startling remixes have already marked Betamaxnomates out as one to watch (nervously, and from a safe distance) in 2010. Consider yourselves warned.
